Queen Jane and Mary I

Just as Queen Jane was first cousin (once removed) cousin to Edward VI, so Mary I was third cousin (once removed) to Jane – since Edward and Mary were half–brother and half–sister. Except that Jane was Edward's first cousin once removed downwards, and Mary was Jane's first cousin once removed upwards. The crown had gone down a generation and then back up to the previous one.
